Choosing the top Irish hen party destinations is a tough ask when there are so many incredible places to take your bride tribe away for a weekend in Ireland. Seeing as we can’t pick our favourites out of the pack, we’re giving you the top 5 Irish hen destinations based on the thousands of hen groups who’ve gone before you.
5. Limerick
With so many great destinations to choose from across Ireland for hen parties, Limerick sometimes gets overlooked. It only narrowly knocked out other worthy contenders for fifth place on our list. This great medieval city is becoming increasingly popular with hen parties and here at The Foxy Hen we know why. Having been conquered by the Vikings in the 9th century this city is great for history buffs and sports nuts alike. Also King John’s Castle and the beautiful Georgian houses make the city a real gem to walk through (or crawl after a few mojitos).
Of course it’s not only history. Nestled between the churches and castles are some of the best pubs in Munster playing Irish music perfect for your Limerick hen party. Also with UL close by the city has developed it’s own unique alternative scene which is great craic and very specific to Limerick. Of course, the city also offers plenty of other hen party activity favourites like make-up and photo-shoot, kayaking or the always popular Draw-a-nude. What hen party wouldn’t love a muscly lad stripping down to his birthday suit while you try out your drawing skills.

4. Westport
Any fans of watersports, or just being by the coast will love Westport. This Beautiful Mayo town has won the Irish Water Award, the European Sports Tourism Award and was even crowned the best place to live in 2012. The town works hard to keep that reputation.
With surfing, coasteering and Ringo rides just a short distance from the town, hen parties will have no trouble finding activities to do. Of course, if your hen party is looking for more laid back water activities then Snorkelling and Kayaking are also on offer, particularly handy if you’re trying to work off last night’s hangover without pushing the limits. There are lots of land based activities to choose from too.
Alternatively, with Westport being the picturesque town it is, your hen party will have no reason to leave. The town is a designated heritage town and three-time winner of the National Tidy Town competition. With it’s alluring tree lined boulevard dotted with blooming flowers giving way to charming pubs, shops and restaurants you can wander from pub to pub sampling the local delights and having a dance with the fine men of Mayo.
These pubs are a great place to let your hair down and have a dance. With live music on most nights Westport really has it all for a great hen party.

3. Galway
Galway is great whatever the occasion. With it’s beautiful cobbled streets and amazing pubs buzzing with live music every night this has to be top of any hen party destination list. Also situated on the west coast this picturesque town has attracted hen and stag parties alike for years.
Why not take have your hen party solve a series of puzzles to find where the groom has disappeared with the ever popular CSI: Save the Groom. Otherwise Galway is perfect for treasure hunts and always proves a big hit with hen parties. Wandering through the beautiful streets of Galway finding clues is especially great in the spring or summer when the city really comes to life.
Of course, if you want a more risqué hen party activity then Draw-a-Nude is a great addition to a Galway bound Hen Party. This always proves a hit and we can see why! After you can get in the mood for a night on the town with a cocktail making class before hitting Galway’s infamous pubs.
You’re sure to have the craic in Galway as it is known for hosting all sorts of events throughout the year, such as the Galway Arts Festival and the Connemara Mussel Festival. Dust off your glad rags and polish your dancing shoes because this town is always hopping.

2. Kilkenny
Home to Smithwicks Brewery and Kilkenny Castle this amazing medieval town comes in second place on our list and is an ideal place for a hen party weekend. With equal parts, cultural and raunchy hen party activities, Kilkenny has plenty to keep you and the girls entertained.
Could you have been one of Robin Hoods merry ladies? Why not save Maid Marian and challenge the girls to a game of Archery tag. Perfect on a sunny day followed by afternoon tea. Our afternoon tea is located in the city centre and is a blast from the past with its authentic 1920s theme.
Otherwise take your hen party on a pub-crawl down Kilkenny’s medieval mile. This is a great way to soak up the amazing atmosphere in this city and experience something a little different from the ordinary. Of course Kilkenny offers all the traditional hen party activities like dance classes, murder mystery pub-crawls and draw a nude. Or any fans of the Cube television show can try it for themselves with the experience being played in one of Kilkenny’s central pubs.

1. Carrick-On-Shannon
There’s nothing quite like a Carrick-on-Shannon hen party. This is the mecca of Irish hen parties and is usually swarming with lads on their last night of freedom too, so plenty of boys for the single ladies to choose from.
Carrick has a lot on offer with water sports, games, puzzles, boda borg, quad biking and even roller disco. But the must-do hen party activity in Carrick is definitely a Booze cruise. There’s nothing quite like sipping a few glasses of wine floating down the Shannon.
Top it off with a BBQ and pub-crawl, and surprise the lucky lady with a male stripper. Carrick is especially great for nightlife as pubs are very welcoming of hens and offer all sorts of special offers such as our unlimited pub pass and VIP nightclub entry along with drinks.
